Meet Our Board of Directors

Richard Grandoni | Chair

New England Biolabs

Change is Simple is helping hundreds of young kids develop skills and thought processes that are critical to the future of our planet. These young environmentalists will become parents, teachers, business owners and politicians who will promote and pass on our message to future generations.

Rick joined the Change is Simple Board in 2016, most recently serving in the role of Board Chair.

He started his career in aquaculture, joining New England Biolabs in 1978 where he eventually became Executive Director of Production. Rick retired from NEB in 2018 but continues as a consultant and member of the sustainability committee.

He and his family have been long-time residents of Beverly where he has served on the Conservation Commission and Open Space and Recreation Committee.

Rick was immediately inspired to join Change is Simple after meeting co-founder Patrick Belmonte and hearing about their mission of teaching young kids to develop smarter environmental and social thinking.

An avid outdoorsman, Rick enjoys surfing, skiing, sailing, mountain biking, and a variety of fresh-air activities with family and friends in Cape Cod and Costa Rica.

Alex Devereaux | Treasurer

Fidelity

Change is Simple has a program that is engaging and making a real impact on kids, helping them to learn about sustainability within their household, community, and beyond. After seeing the program in action it was apparent to me that Change is Simple is doing something truly special. Lauren and Patrick are a dynamic duo and the staff is amazing.

Currently, Alex works at Fidelity investments in Boston as an SVP of Direct Indexing Product Development where he’s helping to develop cutting edge investment solutions that are accessible to all of Fidelity’s customers. Alex has been at Fidelity for over 17 years and prior to his current role held others roles within the firm where he served as a quantitative analyst and portfolio manager for many years. Prior to Fidelity, Alex worked at a couple other investment management firms as a quantitative analyst (Gartmore Global Investments and Evergreen Investments) and a financial software company as a consultant (FactSet Research Systems).

Alex has his bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Vermont and his master of science in finance degree from Boston College.

Alex is passionate about being involved within his community and trying to make a brighter future for everyone (including his 3 children). He’s on the board of the Cabot Theater in Beverly and enjoys surfing, mountain biking and skiing in his spare time.

Georges Dyer

Intentional Endowments Network

I believe that when people understand science and develop a deep appreciation for nature, they realize that the wellbeing of each and everyone of us depends on creating better ways to meet our needs that don’t destroy the communities and ecosystems we all depend on. Change Is Simple helps children develop this appreciation to ensure they are prepared to create a sustainable society.

Georges Dyer is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Crane Institute of Sustainability, and leads its flagship initiative, the Intentional Endowments Network (IEN),  which supports endowments in aligning investment policies with institutional mission, values, and sustainability goals. IEN consists of over 200 members, including leading endowments, foundations, outsourced CIO firms and investment consultants, investment managers, and nonprofit partners.

For over 20 years he has been engaged in solutions-based, whole-system approaches to sustainability. From 2006-2014, Georges served in various roles, including Vice President, at Second Nature to develop and support the Presidents’ Climate Leadership Commitment — a network of nearly 600 colleges and universities committed to achieving climate neutrality in campus operations and integrating climate and sustainability into education, research, and community engagement activities.

Prior to Crane and IEN, Georges engaged in a variety of sustainability projects through his freelance consulting practice, Greenland Enterprises, including strategic evaluations for the Global Institute of Sustainability at Arizona State University and for Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative.  Previously, Georges was the Head of Market Intelligence for the Institutional Equities Group at LaBranche Financial Services in New York, where he was an NASD Series 86/87 licensed analyst. Georges also worked with design-build firms on residential green building projects in Vermont and Colorado and is certified in Permaculture design.

Georges serves on the Board of Change Is Simple, a non-profit bringing project-based sustainability education into classrooms in eastern Massachusetts. He is a graduate of The Mountain School of Milton Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, and Dartmouth College. He holds a M.Sc. in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona, Sweden, where his thesis research focused on carbon reduction projects under the Kyoto Protocol and EU Emissions Trading Scheme.

William Mead

Mead Design

I hope to apply my energy, enthusiasm and “just do it” attitude to make Change is Simple go BIG — pushing them to enable children worldwide to appreciate and care for our planet.

As a practicing architect, Bill spent 30 years with Shepley Bulfinch in Boston and now runs Mead Design out of his Beverly office. His experience in healthcare and education and in designing environments for healing and learning drew him to Change is Simple and their dedication to teaching children at an impressionable age.

He was drawn to Change is Simple while surfing the local Good Harbor break with Co-Founder and CEO Patrick Belmonte, the path of many Change is Simple enthusiasts.  Bill assisted with the design of the SCiLL mobile learning lab for Change is Simple, which launched in June 2022.

Bill is a long term North Shore resident, raising two energetic and creative daughters in their Beverly home. He has an appreciation for the ocean and the outdoors, with a passion being outdoors, SUP surfing, boating, XC skiing, and playing golf and pickleball.

Anthony Michetti

Anthony is a sustainability leader with 15+ years of experience spread across engineering firms, consulting, and academia. He currently serves as Director of Sustainability at Cell Signaling Technology (CST), a private, family-owned life science company founded and run by active research scientists.
