Back to School…In the spring!
On May 6th, the team was thrilled to get back out to teach in front of kids again, at Doyon Elementary School in Ipswich. With safety protocols paramount, we launched outdoor lessons for students in grades 3-5. Grade 3 explored ecosystems using the trails behind the school, Grade 4 found out all about our carbon footprint, and 5th graders tackled the global food system.
On Friday, May 28th, we headed back to Doyon for two more lessons in renewable energy sources and about the ocean! Such a positive day for students, and the team!
We also headed over to Meredith Farm in Topsfield Massachusetts the past few weeks! You may remember this beautiful location where we hosted summer programming in 2019. This spring, we took students there from Ipswich Middle School for multiple days of STEM-infused lessons! Each member of the team created a new lesson based on aspects of the farm - from the solar panels to the Ipswich River watershed, we are exploring everything the farm has to offer and are so happy to be back in person!
Finally, we’re really excited to be working at Ipswich Middle School with the same students from the farm - building hydroponic garden towers right in their school! All of this warm weather and the ability to be working in person with students again has us excited and hopeful to be back in the classrooms this fall!
