Let’s get back together in 2021-22

Our programming engages students in real world hands-on learning. Designed to address learning loss, social emotional and justice education through the lens of climate and sustainability.

Students find the program fun and exciting. It gives them the opportunity to explore how their world works, think beyond themselves and experience the jobs and solutions for a healthier, more just and sustainable world.

We have developed a program model that can be used in all learning scenarios. Our program has been evaluated by a team of Professors from Northeastern University and proven to increase:

  • engagement in classroom activities

  • learning outcomes in math, science and other content areas

  • create positive environmental behavior change and social emotional growth.

Google Classroom Materials: Teachers will have access to lesson content that is provided after the session is complete! The documents available include background information, standard alignments, worksheets for students, additional book and video resources, infographics, and challenges. This information will be made available through the CiS STEM Portal as well. It is up to teacher preference which platform they decide to use.

For students

In-person

Traditional CiS Lessons and Outdoor Adventures Redesigned: Highly engaging, activity-based learning with small group instruction and clear objectives. If you have had CiS at your school, these are what you have been experiencing for the past 10 years but now they will be outside with the proper physical distancing. (When deemed safe.)

LIVE online learning

LIVE Session with Student Interactions: When we can not be with you in person (for any reason: COVID, weather or geography) we bring the impact of those in-person sessions to your classrooms or homes digitally. Designed to engage students and allow them to work with our team directly. Sessions have students doing hands-on activities with materials that are easily accessible and reduce screen time. Curriculum objectives are included and typically linked to Math or ELA. Students are able to interact with our staff and mentors to ask questions and make connections.

Group Mentoring Online

Small Group Instruction Online with our Team: Students can break out into small groups to work directly with our team. Students are able to get the undivided attention they deserve. These sessions are focused on Social Emotional Learning and allow for students to ask questions, make connections and reflect on activities. Led by our trained college mentors who are able to share their experiences and connect with students.

For everyone

Log-in Specific STEM Portal: Students and teachers will have access to a personalized online portal where they can access their online content. Teachers will have the opportunity to search for content, lessons, and worksheets to assign. Students will be able to complete worksheets and submit answers that get sent to their teacher! This portal will also offer updates with new lessons and virtual field trips as well as an online forum for all CiS participants to talk to one another.
